Mindfulness
is learning to pay loving attention to our own minds, bodies, and the
world around us. It is an essential component of healing and transforming
our obstacles, and it is the key to the process of our awakening. It
is in the space of mindfulness that we become aware of the process of
our own minds, our thoughts, and the unique habitual styles that cause
us to create and re-create unfulfilling experiences in our lives.
We all long to touch that genuine essence of who we are, where we can be at peace with ourselves and at peace with our world. To live from a place where we are guided by principles of integrity and aspire to become all that we can be. It is important in a journey of healing and awakening that we develop a sense of walking a path, making a journey. When things are addressed in metaphor, as is done through the arts, the personal is connected to the universal and we are lifted from the smallness of our own lives into the knowledge that our experience is human experience. It is easier to meet challenges with courage and dignity when they are seen as stepping stones to becoming fuller and deeper human beings.
